Ugh so sad to see this place has closed. They had the most amazing cocktails and food. We were just talking about how we had to go back to this spot just last week. Idk why they closed but if there is ever any hope for them to come back, even sowmwhere else, please do!!
What an absolute treat!! Everything - and I mean everything about my dining experience at Sparrow was superb. The restaurant is in a really trendy neighbourhood in downtown LA and nestled in the Hotel Figueroa. Regardless of where you are seated in the restaurant you're guaranteed to have a great view! My friend and I lucked out and got a table facing the swimming pool which really elevated the ambiance. We were really spoiled when it came to the service. Our server was incredibly professional yet personable; and gave excellent recommendations for what we should considered ordering. At the time there wasn't an option for pizza, which was a bit of a bummer - but, all the more reason to go back again!! We went with the Heirloom Tomatoes and Buffalo Mozzarella for starters and for our entrees the Bone Marrow and Cacio e Pepe!!! ALL of which were absolute show stoppers. With the Bone Marrow pasta I was intrigued more than anything initially -- and I could not have been more impressed with how the flavours of the braised beef cheeks, bone marrow and barolo reduction truly complemented each other. Everything about this meal was impressive and has me looking forward to going back!!
We came for my little brother's birthday and my partner and I had some dietary restrictions that the staff was so accommodating about! We couldn't do dairy (no butter and no cheese) and they were able to cook most things in olive oil and sub out cheese for their vegan cheese. The overall ambience inside is quiet with dim lighting, perfect if you're looking for a date night or intimate dinner with friends/family. The branzino and butternut squash were my fave!
Came here for a celebratory birthday dinner for my boyfriend and it definitely made a perfectly intimate special occasion spot. The setting by the pool with lights was very unique and beautiful, and the food was delicious. Per server recomendation, we had the Truffle pizza, which was an absolute must if you are a truffle / mushroom enthusiast (as I am), the rigatoni (which was perfectly al dente), and the crispy baby potatoes (which honestly surpassed my expectations and was potentially my favorite dish.) We also ordered a couple of cocktails, which were both very unique and tasty (one of them was lit on fire.) The staff was also very kind and provided us with a complimentary birthday desert :) Overall, this place is definitely on the upscale / pricey side, but a great place to celebrate a special occasion.
We came here around 8PM on a Thursday. We had a reservation so we only waited around 10-15 minutes. We got the basilicata, sardinia, truffle pizza, and bolognese pasta. Basilicata - The cutest drink!! It was a bit sticky on the sides but I loved this drink since it had strawberry flavors. Sardinia - This drink reminded me of a lemon drop. It was super refreshing and was very citrusy. Truffle Pizza - I thought it was really good at first but after one slice it was a bit too much for me. Bolognese pasta - My favorite dish! We subbed out rigatoni for tagliatelle pasta since it's my fav type. Overall, the service here was amazing and the drinks are def IG worthy! There's also a really nice walkway outside to take pics under! The only thing was that they charged us for water and we didn't find out until the bill came out :(
Good food with a lot of truffle options on the menu Indoor-outdoor type situation with lots of heat lamps. Parking is in the lot next door; public lot I think was like $10? Service was attentive and really chill. Crispy baked potatoes side was super duper crispy from top to bottom- no soggy potates here. Pane al Tartufo was really good too! Zeppole dessert is a lot of fun and very shareable.
If you're looking to celebrate a special occasion or a nice place to have a date, I would highly recommend coming to Sparrow. I made a reservation via their website a week in advance for a group of 9 guests, which was very easy to do, and if you download the app on the website called inKind, you get a $50 discount off your bill for any orders $150+. Luckily before my reservation, I got a text from the app a few days prior that they are offering a limited time deal where you pay for a $100 gift card and get a free $100 credit, so technically I got a $200 gift card. Price is a little higher than your casual restaurant, so keep that in mind and download the app if you want to save some money. I lyfted here with a friend, so I have no idea what the parking is like, but the restaurant was fairly easy to find. Note that the entire party must be present in order to be seated. The staff here are all very friendly and the food here is very good. We ordered a variety of pastas, pizzas, and the veal which were all delicious. Unfortunately they charge $4 per head if you end up cutting a birthday cake and eat it at the restaurant, so we couldn't eat my birthday cake there, but they allowed us to at least light the candle. We ordered a tiramisu instead which was light and very good. The cocktails here are pretty good and theres a bar available if you want to order a shot or something specific. There is an upstairs balcony you can enter if you want to sit down and enjoy the views while having a drink or you can sit by the area that overlooks the pool which is nice.
Overall 3.5/5 Parking is a real pain and so expensive, better off ubering to and fro. Take reservations ahead. Wonderful ambience but very pricey. Went in for the dine LA menu, ended up ordering A la carte because the other menu felt like a lot, but ended up paying $$$. They have theatrical drinks and decent food, but the taste doesn't match the price. Still a good place for a special night/event.
I chose this dinner spot on vacation for our party of 7 solely because the top reviews and pictures. We wanted to go somewhere in downtown LA with a nice ambiance, great food and drinks. This place fell no short of that! We had James as our server and he was AMAZING. He came out of the gates very knowledgeable of the drink menu and recommendations for each of us. All of the cocktails we ordered had a WOW element, either dry ice, smoke, or fire was involved. I had the campania ($19) and the Sardinia ($21) which were both light and refreshing. We started with a few appetizers (2) braised meatballs ($20 each) and a truffle pizza ($38). The meatballs were so tender and had the most addicting sauce. The pizza was loaded with truffle and the Parmesan cream sauce was the perfect pair. HIGHLY recommend both of those apps. For our entrees, we had the hardest time deciding but James ensured everything on the menu was amazing. My friend and I had the bone marrow pasta ($32 each) which stole the show!! This was my favorite dish! In our group, they ordered the lobster pasta ($75) cacio y Pepe with truffle ($32+ Truffle price), Bolognese ($32) and Wagyu Alla Vodka Pizza ($28). We were so stuffed from the food and drinks and wanted dessert but there was no way we could do it. We decided to take pictures after in the hotel courtyard and it was the perfect aesthetic. Our experience overall was a great start to our vacation. This is a perfect place for a date night out or for a group gathering- 10/10 recommend and definitely will be coming back on my next visit to LA.
Came here to celebrate a birthday and the service was phenomenal! I can't remember our servers name but he's older and has a great vibe. We ordered the Tuna Tartare, Bolognese Pasta, Cacio E Pepe, Basilicata, and the guava cocktail (can't remember the name). The Tuna Tartare, Basilicata and guava cocktail were to die for. Absolutely AMAZING. My partner mentioned how he can eat buckets until he dies of the tartare. Those three items were presented so beautifully! As for the Bolognese Pasta and Cacio E Pepe we were disappointed. We've had more flavorful bolognese at other spots for cheaper. I risked my lactose sensitivity for the Cacio E Pepe and was disappointed. I would probably give the pizza or bone marrow pasta a try if I were to come back. But I 10000% recommend the tuna tartare and cocktails. The place is beautiful and we sat at the outdoor patio. Reservation online was super easy and just remember this restaurant is inside a hotel. You do have to pay for parking but we just parked on the street a block away for free.
